Independent reading. tolbg is an informational publication about roads in Bulgaria for cars, motorcycles and freight vehicles. It does not sell vignettes, tolls, permits, insurance or roadside help, and it is not a public authority. Rules, fees and closures change. Confirm them with the responsible institutions before you travel.

Access

The pages should be readable without a steady hand or a large screen.

Updated . We have not commissioned a formal audit and we do not hold an accessibility certificate. The list below is what the pages actually do.

Supported and limited

In the pages

  • One H1, then H2 and H3Headings follow the outline of the article rather than the size we liked.
  • Skip linkThe first tab stop is “Skip to content”, which moves to the main region.
  • Keyboard menuThe mobile menu is a disclosure element. It opens without JavaScript. Desktop links are in the tab order.
  • Visible focusA focus ring uses the page accent so a keyboard user can see where they are.
  • Text alternativesPhotographs have alt text that says what is in the frame. Captions add the place, the year and the licence. The logo mark is decorative beside the word tolbg.
  • MotionA short fade is used on the home hero. If the system asks for reduced motion, fades and hover zooms are turned off.
  • ColourBody text is near-black on white. The accent is not the only way a link is indicated; links are underlined in prose and in captions.
  • LanguageThe pages are marked as English. Bulgarian place names appear where the sign uses them.

Known limits

  • Wide tablesThe speed table and the vignette table scroll sideways on a narrow screen. The first column is the label to hold onto while you scroll.
  • Cookie settings need JavaScriptThe banner’s buttons do. Without JavaScript the pages still show their text, and a note explains that no preference cookie is set. The policy itself is a normal page.
  • Photographs are not the only pathEvery practical point is also in text. A diagram of a sign is simple geometry with an accessible name, not a substitute for the paragraph.
  • No certified auditWe aim at the spirit of WCAG 2.2 AA for contrast, keyboard use and text alternatives. We have not had an outside body certify that, and we will not pretend otherwise.
